Keith Haring Flowers Suite: All Five Screenprints

The Flowers Suite, also known as the Flowers Portfolio, comprises five color screenprints from 1990. Thick black contours surround curling stems, oversized blooms and abstract organic forms. Bright backgrounds, patterned color and streaks running through the compositions give the series a distinctive appearance within Haring’s editioned work.

Flowers Suite Editions and Signatures

Each composition was issued in a numbered edition of 100, with 15 artist’s proofs in addition. Documented examples are signed and dated by Keith Haring in pencil and carry the publisher’s blindstamp. An AP designation identifies an artist’s proof; it does not automatically establish a higher value.

For an initial review, photograph the signature, date, edition number and embossed publisher’s mark. Include the reverse and any gallery labels or purchase records. A matching image or visible signature alone cannot establish authenticity; the artwork and its documentation need to be considered together.

Paper, Dimensions and Production Details

Issued on Coventry paper, with sheets approximately 39¼ × 51 inches, the suite was published by Shafrazi Editions Inc., New York, and produced by Studio Heinrici Ltd. The five compositions are catalogued in Klaus Littmann’s Keith Haring: Editions on Paper 1982–1990, pages 164–167.
